Women Shaping the Future
On 22 August 2019 the Gauteng Institute for Architecture hosted an exhibition that celebrated women practitioners in the province. Meshworks principle, Catherine de Souza, was selected to participate. Meshworks exhibited our Peech Hotel Extension project which was led on the ground by Catherine.
The exhibition acknowledged an eclectic array of a younger generation of women architects - and their practices and partners - who are successfully and unapologetically researching, designing and building. The endeavour by Gifa, and Nadia Tromp in particular, to recognise them hopefully points to the day when we will be able to drop the descriptor ‘women’ and just be architects.
